Over-the-Rhine is an urban neighborhood in Cincinnati. I live here.
Some days I walk around and  ask people to let me take their picture.
They smile. Then I request that they not smile. Most agree to this.
The first photos I take of each person usually show the shadow of a smile.
After a few photos the smile fades and a different person emerges.
The contrast is often striking.
