True Allegory of My Life as an Artist

Performance
December 3, 2022
University of Cincinnati

An unannounced performance during a gallery reception. I hung my studio with swathes of canvas hung from cables and tangled with everything in the studio. Bound in the mess was a massive factory cart piled with steel scrap. I pushed the cart out of the studio, contents of shelves, crashing to the floor, and dragged it all behind me through the reception. A garage door at the other end of the gallery rose, I exited, and the door and shut behind me.

Allegory did exactly what it was meant to do. From a mess I exploded into view, pushing and dragging the materials of my practice past a startled public, then disappeared, leaving my studio a mess behind me.
